We’ve been talking turkey with more than 3,000 people across the country – and have had some surprising results!
While one in five Londoners think turkeys come from Turkey, shoppers in the capital are also the most likely to choose a fresh turkey over a frozen bird.
People in the South West are most price-conscious but also the most likely to buy a turkey direct from a farm or farm shop. Families in the West Midlands are the most likely to be cooking a frozen bird this year (39%).
It is encouraging that nationally 67% of people will be tucking into a turkey at Christmas and 61% say quality is the most important factor when making their selection. Some other survey results include: • One in five people wrongly think turkeys can fly • People in the North East are least likely to eat turkey this Christmas, with those in the North West most likely • 40 per cent of people only eat turkey at Christmas • Other popular meats served up on Christmas Day include goose, duck, venison, salmon, ham, fish and gammon .
