With traditional turkeys, the customer always receives a very special, beautifully prepared and presented product.
There are so many choices you can make at Christmas regarding your turkey, but the main rules are buy British and buy the best you can afford.
- Order as soon as possible from your butcher, direct from the farm, or from your local supermarket.
- Fresh is usually the best option and without the added worry of whether or not your turkey will defrost in time.
- Farm-fresh turkeys are traditionally reared. Although they may be a little more expensive, they generally have more flavour than those that are commercially reared.
- Ask your supplier if he/she can tell you where the turkey has been reared.
